DISCLAIMER: I don't own DBZ or anything affiliated with it. I just love me some Vegeta! Rated: PG-13 (for mild cursing)
We were careless and irresponsible that night, but I have no regrets. I can't change the
past or what happened that night two months ago. I cherished every second we were together
and I still do, although they're just memories now. Being with him gave me ultimate
satisfaction and I miss him terribly since we went off to train. I hope he's coming back
soon because I need to tell him what's resulted from that one night of passion, that I am
carrying his child inside of me.
"Are you all right, Bulma?" Goku asked me. "You don't seem like yourself. If there's
anything I can do to help just let me know, ok?"
"Sure, thanks, Goku," I replied to my best friend "Actually, there is something you can
do for me. I need to tell someone and I trust you completely Will you listen?"
"Of course," he answered, "now what's bothering you?"
"I'm going to be a mother, Goku."
Goku's eyes widened and his jaw dropped.
"Wow! That's great!" he exclaimed as he took me in his arms and hugged me.
"Did you tell Yamcha yet?"
The look on Goku's face was truly priceless as he could sense that my entire body at that
instant went numb and I could feel the color draining from my face. I was confident that
Goku would keep my secret for me. Hopefully, there won't be anything to worry about.
"Well, it's not his," I stammered, "I am carrying Vegeta's baby."
Goku stared blankly at me in a state of shock. For the first time since I've known him,
Goku was absolutely speechless.
"I went to the doctor and he confirmed it. Since I dumped Yamcha ages ago for being
unfaithful and I've been with Vegeta just once, he's got to be the father. Goku, how am I
going to tell him? I know how violent he can get, and the last thing I want is make him mad."
"Vegeta?" inquired Goku. "What were you doing with him in the first place? All he cares
about is his Saiyan pride and himself."
"Don't you think I know that?" I screamed,"but believe it or not, I love him, Goku!
Underneath that arrogant, coldhearted shell is a wonderful man."
"If you say so." Goku shook his head in disgust.
"Believe me, Goku, I know so."
"But how can you love a person who doesn't care about you, Bulma?" Goku asked in a most
sincere manner.
"I...I don't know. When we shared that night together two months ago, I felt something I've
never felt before in my entire life. Vegeta means a lot to me and as soon as he gets back,
I'm telling him that he's going to be a father!"
"Good luck to you, then," answered Goku. "He's probably not going to be happy when he finds
out. You've got plenty of time to think about it because Vegeta won't be back for a good
couple of months, give or take. Just remember that I'm here if you need me. I have to get
back to Chi-Chi and Gohan. I'll see you later."
Goku hugged me once more and left me with my thoughts. I was lonely and somewhat depressed
because I yearned for Vegeta's arms around me. Despite the fact that he's cruel to me at
times, I still love him. He's not too good at expressing his feelings, except for when he
gets mad. I hope that this child I'm carrying will bring us closer together, just like a
real family.
Well, two months have gone by and I'm starting to show a little bit. I'm getting worried
because Vegeta's not back yet. I hope he gets back before this baby is born. I hope he's all
right. It's so lonely here since my parents have gone on holiday for an entire year. I want
him back here...now.
"Did you tell him yet?" asked Goku as he peered his head in the front door.
"I haven't seen him to tell him. He's still not back from training. I'm getting worried
about him."
"Vegeta knows how to take care of himself," Goku reassured me, "and he'll be back before you
know it."
"Can I ask you something, Goku?"
"Of course you can. Ask me anything." Goku was always sincere and he meant well.
"What was your reaction when Chi-Chi told you that she was pregnant with Gohan?"
Goku's face turned a light shade of pink and he began chuckling nervously.
"Well," he muttered,"I was pretty happy that we were going to be parents. Chi-Chi and I
truly love each other and Gohan is the result of our love."
"That's wonderful," I replied with tears in my eyes, "but I hope for my sake that Vegeta
will be just as happy."
"Listen, I have to go now, but I'll be checking up on you periodically. Take care of
yourself, ok?"
"I sure will. Thank you, Goku."
Goku went home to be with his family and once again left me to think. I had to figure out
how to tell the Saiyan Prince that he is going to have an heir. I hope and pray that he
doesn't bite my head off when I tell him.
**********************************************************************************************
I am now in my sixth month of this pregnancy and still no Vegeta. I'm beginning to look like
the broad side of a barn here. I wish he would come home soon because I miss him so much.
My heart aches for him every night we're apart.
"Anybody home?" asked Goku as he let himself in yet again.
"I'm still here, but Vegeta hasn't come back yet. You haven't told anyone about my pregnancy,
have you?"
"Nope," replied Goku. "A promise is a promise, but I worry about you sometimes. How are you
doing? Whoa, getting pretty big there, Bulma."
"Just fine, thanks and I know. I'm huge! Goku, do you think you could you try to sense
Vegeta and get him to come home for me?"
"Sure, I can at least try," he happily answered. "I need to concentrate, so I'll need you to
be quiet for a few minutes, ok?"
I nodded as Goku went into a meditative state in search of my baby's father. After only a
few minutes, Goku opened his eyes.
"Good news, Bulma, he's on his way here right now, and he's pretty hungry."
"Oh, well let me put a roast in the oven so it'll be done by the time he gets here. Thank
you so much, Goku. I don't know what I would do without you."
I jumped up from my seat and embraced Goku, much to his surprise I very much enjoyed being
in Goku's warm embrace, but it was nothing compared to being with my Prince. I released my
friend and went to prepare the feast for my beloved.
"Where's my dinner, woman? I'm hungry!" he yelled as he came through the front door, "and
what the hell is HE (points to Goku) doing here?"
"I was just leaving," replied Goku, "so the two of you can reunite over dinner. Good to see
you, Vegeta. I'll see you later, Bulma."
I was suddenly overcome with joy as my prayer was answered. He came back to me. Now I have
to break the news to him.
"It's in the oven and will be done shortly," I replied as I met him in the living room. "Bye,
Goku."
"Good-bye, Kakarot," Vegeta managed to growl through his clenched teeth. He glared fiercely
at Goku as he made his exit. His dark eyes then turned and gazed upon me with a vengeance.
He sensed how much I missed him and how I wanted to be in his arms. Of course, he failed to
acknowledge the fact.
"What the hell's happened to you? You're getting fat!"
"No shit, Sherlock," I fired back at him. "I'm pregnant, Vegeta. What do you think about
that, huh?"
I pointed my finger in his face and waited with anticipation for his reply. I just prayed
quietly to myself that he wouldn't go ballistic on me.
Silence. The Saiyan Prince's eyes widened and he said nothing. After a brief pause, he took
his hand and placed it on my abdomen. He suddenly jerked his hand away when he felt his baby
kicking.
"Amazing," Vegeta managed to mutter, "it's a Saiyan. Does this mean..."
Vegeta's eyes blazed with fire and rage. This was the one thing that I feared the most. Now
I must suffer his wrath.
"Kakarot, that bastard," he mumbled under his breath. "Do you mean to tell me that while
I've been away training, you decide to have an affair with HIM when you say you love ME? How
DARE you!?"
His voice got louder and louder with every word. His yelling was enough to puncture my
eardrums.
"I think you have your uniform on too tight and I am NOT having an affair with Goku, you
idiot!"
"I don't believe you, stupid woman."
"Do you remember that night we shared when I told you I loved you?"
"Of course I do, woman. How could I forget it?"
"Well,"I chuckled, "this child was conceived that night. This child is OUR child, Vegeta,
YOURS and mine, so get over it."
"I did this to you? Damn it, I knew I should have used precautions. How careless!"
Vegeta was spitting bullets and I was relieved that he didn't break anything. I feel as if a
huge burden was lifted from my shoulders. I knew he cared about me, despite the fact that he
would never admit to it.
"Not at all," I told him as I took his hand into mine. "I honestly think that this was meant
to happen. We can get through this as long as we stick together. Dinner's ready; let's go
eat."
We entered the kitchen in complete silence and sat down at the table. I'd already taken the
roast from the oven. Vegeta proceeded to pork out on the entire roast, which he devoured in
about three bites. He slurped down the bowl of mashed potatoes I made in a single gulp. I
sat quietly watching his every move while eating the salad I made for myself.
"Aren't you going to say anything?" I asked with a mouthful of lettuce.
"Are you absolutely positive that I am responsible for this, woman?"
"Yes," I mumbled, "because you were my first and only, despite what you think. If you still
don't believe me, we can arrange for a paternity test to prove you're the father."
"That won't be necessary. I'm going to bed."
Wow! Did Vegeta just accept the fact that I'm having his child? He slowly got up from the
table and headed for the bedroom, once again leaving me to clean up the dishes. Deep down, I
knew he was happy, but he was reluctant to show his feelings which was nothing new to me.
After I finished cleaning up the kitchen, I went and took a long, hot shower. I felt a pain
shoot through me like an arrow. I made my way out of the shower and to the bedroom where I
now had to wake the sleeping Prince. I think it's time.
"Vegeta, wake up, damn it!" I whispered, but to no avail. He lay there fast asleep dead to
the world.
"VEGETA! Please wake up. I need to go to the hospital now. My water broke while I was in the
shower."
He sat straight up and opened his weary eyes to see me haunched over in front of him.
"Keys are on the table, woman," he smirked with a tiny hint of sarcasm.
"I know that, but I need you to take me. The baby is coming and I can't drive myself.
Please..."
As he could see that I was not in any mood to agrue with him, Vegeta finally got out of bed
and helped me get dressed before getting dressed himself. He then scooped me up in his arms
and made a beeline for the front door. He bolted into the air like a streak of lightning
with me in tow and got me to the hospital within a few minutes. I guess he gave a damn after
all.
"Whatever you do, do NOT have that child now!" demanded Vegeta as we sped through the air.
"I can't control when this baby is born," I cried as the contractions and pain worsened.
Five minutes felt like five hours and the pain kept getting worse. We finally got to the
hospital when I fainted.
"GET THIS WOMAN INTO A ROOM! SHE IS ABOUT TO GIVE BIRTH!"
I woke up as Vegeta's yelling was right in my ear. All I remember was that two orderlys came
and hoisted me on a gurney and took me away. Vegeta insisted that he come along, but he was
told to wait outside and they would call him shortly. He turned Super Saiyan and threatened
to level the hospital; this is when they let him pass.
"When is she going to have the baby?"
"Any time now," replied the nurse in the room with us. "Are you her husband?"
"NO, I am not her husband!" Vegeta bellowed. "I am, however, responsible for that child."
"We're not married," I managed to mutter, "but he's my baby's father. Please let him stay; I
need him here."
"He can stay, but if he causes one ounce of trouble, he's gone."
Vegeta grumbled something indistinct under his breath while the nurse told me to push. I did
so, but I couldn't feel anything since they gave me some sort of drugs to make me feel all
numb.
"Kami, I can see its head!" Vegeta's eyes were as wide as saucers. He looked like he was
about to pass out.
I was instructed to push once more and I did. The nurse pulled the baby from within me and
handed Vegeta a pair of special scissors to cut the umbilical cord. Vegeta looked at the
nurse as if he was about to vomit. Nonetheless, he took the scissors and cut the cord where
he was told to cut it.
"Congratulations, you two have a son. We're going to clean him up a bit then you will be
able to hold him."
I started crying immediately. I couldn't wait to hold my son for the first time. I was
absolutely elated.
"Stop crying already. Everything is fine now," Vegeta grumbled before kissing my forehead.
"He's beautiful."
The nurse brought the baby over and handed him to Vegeta. The all mighty Saiyan Prince's
hands trembled as he cradled his son. I looked over to see his eyes filled with pride, but
not Saiyan pride. I think he was just happy to have produced an heir, so to speak.
"Vegeta? Can I hold him now? And would you mind calling Goku?"
"Why should I call that idiot Kakarot?" Vegeta asked as he rolled his eyes and handed me
the baby.
"Goku was there for me during the pregnancy while you were away training; he was the only
person I told besides you. Please call him."
Vegeta grunted in disgust and picked up the nearby telephone and dial the Son's phone number.
He rolled his eyes once again when Gohan answered the phone.
"Hello?"
"Let me talk to Kakarot!"
Gohan instantly knew that voice, besides the fact that Vegeta is the only person who calls
his dad 'Kakarot.'
"Just a second, Vegeta. DAD! Vegeta's on the phone for you."
"Hi, Vegeta. What's going on?"
"Bulma asked me to call you. She just gave birth to our son."
"Congratulations! How's she doing?"
"She's fine. Do you wish to speak to her?"
"Sure, if she feels up to it."
"Just a minute."
Vegeta handed me the phone receiver so I could talk to my best friend. The baby started to
cry and Vegeta went to fetch a nurse so he could get a bottle.
"Hey, Goku. My son is handsome, just like his daddy. I guess it's safe to let everyone know
now, so you can tell Chi-Chi and Gohan if you want."
"I already did," laughed Goku, "when I sensed that you went into labor is when I told them.
Chi-Chi says congratulations and Gohan is going to send you some flowers. I'm glad Vegeta
got back in time. How's he handling things?"
"He's actually taking it well. He even held the baby for a little bit. He's glad to be a dad,
but you know he won't admit to it."
In the meantime, Vegeta returned with bottle in hand, which he gave to me so I could satisfy
my child's hunger.
"I'm going to let you go so I can feed Trunks. I can give you a call back later on, ok?"
"No problem and Trunks is a nice name," Goku commented, "we'll be by to see you tomorrow
probably. Take care."
Vegeta was glaring at me from the moment I began talking to Goku until I hung up the phone
(except when he left to get the bottle for me). I could tell by looking at him that he had
something on his mind that he wanted to get off his chest.
"Hey," he mumbled, "Now that we have a child, I have to do right by you. We should get
married."
"Are you proposing to me?" I asked in innocence.
"What the hell do you think? Of course I am! Will you marry me or not?"
Vegeta noticed that his yelling was disturbing Trunks and he immediately quited down, which
was a miracle.
"Of course I'll marry you, are you kidding?"
"Splendid," he replied with a grin on his face. "We can start making the arrangements when
you get out of here."
Wow, what a day. I have a baby and Vegeta asks me to marry him. I've never been so happy in
all my life.
