Two little kittens, Small and cute they may be, Loveable, but little tricksters they are, They have become almost as big as a house, But they love to play with you. One is as black as midnight, With small amber spots, That seem to transist the evening fading into darkness. Her big, soft light green eyes, Seem to grow brighter, As she rolls onto her back, To let you rub her soft belly, Her paws in the air, In a sign of surrender, Her quiet cry like the ring of a bell, As if she is saying, "OK, I give up." And rolls around on the carpet, To try to wriggle away from you. The other, is as orange as the twilight, And a hint of white, To give the impression of the first rays of sunlight Her bright amber eyes, That glow like the low light from a candle. They glow brighter when she stands, On her hind legs like a trained tiger from the circus, Her little paws reaching, as if, for the stars, As she tries to grab a piece of long, slender string, Thats dangling from your hand. |

| Love? What is love? Everyone will give a different answer, But how can one create an answer, If one has not felt it? Maybe this one has felt it the wrong way, Giving one a fear of love. She may have encased her lonely, tortured heart in layers, Of impenetrable stone and ice, To forever forbid the possibility of true happiness. If another comes too close, She shudders, And slowly shrinks away, Like a terrified baby rabbit, Thinking of the others in the past, Will this one show her cruelty? Or will this one be different? She turns away, And decides not to find out, She can not take the thought of wonder anymore, Thinks it better to be a shadow, Silently slinking around the room, And to be ignored, And not try with another once more. Maybe one day, Another might try everything, To convince her otherwise, And perhaps melt that glacier, And blast through the wall of stone, To set her heart free again once more. |
