Wedding Day
by: SMK

DISCLAIMER: This fanfic is based upon the anime/manga Sailor Moon. This idea came to me after reading the manga about Serena and Darien's wedding. Therereally wasn't much detail for me to work with, so this is just my interpretation of it and for the Outer Scouts, I will be using thier Japanese names because I personally don't like the names of Amara and Trista. These characters are copyrighted, hence, I do not own them. Thanks, Naoko, for creating these characters for people like me to write about. Please enjoy my work.
I was inside a dark, wooden room with no windows. No sunlight beaming in on this happy occasion. Raye, Amy, Lita and Mina were all there and they looked beautiful as always. Oh, yeah, and my best freind Molly was there, too. Each was dressed in a strapless crimson gown and they each had in their hair a rose, the symbol of our love. I was staring blankly at the four walls of my confinement when I suddenly came back to reality, so to speak, when I heard fingers snapping.

"Snap out of it, girl! It's your turn to get dressed."

Raye was standing right in front of me holding my gown. It was white, naturally, with a lot of lace and ruffles; and it had a long train, too. I picked it out not long after he proposed to me. Gee, I hope he likes it.
I stood up and peeled out of my robe. I wasn't bashful about standing there in my bra and panties. We're all girls here and they're my very best freinds besides. Lita came over and took the cover away while Raye was holding the hanger way above her head as to not let it touch the floor and get dirty.
"It's okay, Raye," I said to her just as she lowered the hanger so Amy and Mina could take the dress off of it. Mina smiled at me and acknowledged with her eyes that I could step into the dress whenever I was ready. I took a deep breath as my heart rate slightly increased then stepped ever so daintily into my gown. Molly came over and wadded up my hair so it wouldn't get caught in the zipper. Raye came around and slowly pulled the zipper up and Molly let my hair down.

"What am I going to do with this mop?"

I wasn't exactly sure I wanted my hair to be done, but I knew that I didn't want the buns I have been famous for having for so long. I wanted something different because I didn't feel like being called Meatball Head, not today, of all days.

"Why not make it one large bun with no pigtails?" suggested Molly. "Gosh, Serena, I never realized how long your hair actually was!"

I pondered that thought for a minute. I really didn't want a bun at all because Haruka had this habit of calling me Little Muffin or Muffin head. I didn't want a stupid hairstyle to ruin my big day as I've been waiting for this all my life.
"Do any of you know how to braid?" I asked my freinds. They all looked at me like I had two heads, but I didn't care. I wanted to look as close to perfect as I possibly could for him... because I love him so.

"I can," answered Mina with a smile. "Just tell me how you want it braided and I'll see what I can do. If someone could help me out, I'd sure appreciate it a lot."

Mina began to separate my hair into braidable strands. Amy had no clue about braiding since she'd always had that short hair, so she came around and began to apply subtle make-up on my face. Molly came over and started a second braid on the opposite side that Mina was on. I couldn't see them, but I could tell that this would be a tedious task.
"How does that look?" inquired Amy as she held a mirror up in front of my face. Seeing myself all dolled up made me blush a little bit. Amy did an excellant job, too. My nose wasn't too shiny and I didn't look like a prostitute or a clown.

"It looks absolutely marvelous," I responded, "just as I knew it would. Thany you, Amy."

Mina and Molly were just about finished with my hair. I wasn't exactly sure what they were doing, but I could feel bobby pins being stuck in my head. I silently prayed that whatever they were doing would turn out lovely.

"All done," chimed Molly and Mina in perfect unison.

The suspense was killing me. I wanted to see my hairdo. mina held up Michiru's mirror to the back of my head as I took a look since Amy still had the mirror in front of me. It was absolutely exquisite. They braided my hair into two symmetrical braids and used the bobby pins to pin them up. It looked like I had a wad of rope attached to the back of my head, but it was gorgeous nonetheless.

"Congradulations, Serena. I've always thouht that you and Darien made a cute couple. Maybe some day I'll be a bride and we can share yet another happy day together. I don't mean to be rude, but I'd better get out there and see if Melvin's arrived yet. I'll be back in a little bit. See you later."

Molly smiled as she made a quick exit. I knew she would return, I mean, she is my maid of honor and all.

"Now for your gifts. Are you ready?"

Lita was first, She was trying her hardest not to cry but she couldn't help it. This caused me to weep a little, too. She handed me a small oblong box.

"It's something blue," laughed Lita.

I chuckled as I opened the box to reveal a shiny blue garter. Lita and Amy held my dress up for me so I could slip the garter around my right leg. I was crying a bit harder, too, which wasn't a good thing for my make-up.
Raye was next in line and she, too, had a small oblong box which she handed to me. I thought at first that it may have been another garter, but I was mistaken.

"A brand new good luck charm from the temple. One that will bring you both much happiness." Raye was wiping tears from her eyes as well.
Next was Amy. She removed the necklace she was wearing and reached around and fastened it around my neck

"This necklace belonged to my grandmother, so it's pretty old, and now I am letting you borrow it for this glorious occasion. I wish you both nothing but happiness and good will." Amy even gave me a hug, too.
Finally, there was Mina. She had in her hand a bracelet with all of the Scouts' colors in it. She slid it around my left wrist and was pleased to find it fit perfectly.

"This bracelet represents all of us," stated Mina. "Luna and Artimis helped me make it and I also made one for Darien which he is wearing right now on his left wrist. Even thought you're moving on and getting married, always know that no matter what, your freinds will always be here."

By now, everyone, including me, was bawling her eyes out. I turned when the door opened suddenly and Molly was standing there.

"It's time, you guys," panted Molly. "We've got to get in our places!"

My dad walked into the room behind Molly. The way I looked must have taken his breath away or something because he didn't say anything at first. Seeing my dad made me think of my other "dad." Not a soul knew it, but I have my transformation brooch containing the Imperium Silver Crystal tucked into the front of my dress by my left breast so my Moon family would be close to my heart. Mother...*weep*... I'm sorry you couldn't be here to see this. And Rini, you will see us soon enough when you are born and I can tell you all about this glorious day.

"Serena, you look like a princess. I wasn't exactly sure about Darien at first because he's so much older than you, but he turned out to be a decent man. I know deep in my heart that he will be faithful to you and he will treat you with the respect you deserve."

Dad always meant well. He reached to my left hand and took off my engagment ring. He held it between his fingers briefly before taking my right hand and placed it on my ring finger there. We heard the music playing in the church. The time was nigh; the time when I would finally become Darien's wife.
First to ascend the aisle were my brither, Sammy, Chibi Chibi. Sammy was carrying our wedding bands on a crimson pillow with Chibi Chibi by his side dropping red rose petals from her basket. Next was Amy, then Raye, Lita and Mina. I wanted them to go in the order that they were revealed as Sailor Scouts. The last to walk up the aisle was Molly. They all looked radiant and so, so beautiful. My heart began racing as Dad and I waited in front of the now closed doors that led into the church. I took a deep breath. Here we go...
The Wedding March began to play as the doors slowly opened. Everyone was standing awaiting my grand entrance. I saw Darien standing next to the minister and Andrew, his best man. Andrew and Darien were wearing a black tuxedo with a red rose boutonni`ere.
Darien was amazed the instant that he saw me. I smiled at him, but i'm not sure if he saw it or not because I had the veil over my face. Dad and I walked slowly up the aisle and I passed by a few freinds on the way, too.

"They've waited so long for this," whispered Michiru as we walked by. "The sea is calm and today will be a happy event for us all."

"I agree," answered Haruka. "in the event that trouble comes to try to ruin this, I personally will see that the problem is removed permanently."

"Only time will tell," muttered Setsuna. "Let us hope for the best, shall we?"

What seemed to be the slowest stroll of my life finally came to an end. I turned to see Dad shaking Darien's hand and giving me away to him. Dad lifted my veil long enough to kiss my right cheek before taking his seat next to Mom. Then the music stopped and I was nervous as hell, let me tell you. Molly came over and relieved me of the bouquet of red roses I was carrying.
The minister began speaking about the fundamentals of a marriage, but I was only half paying attention. Darien and I were looking intensely into each other's eyes. This was the moment for which we'd both been waiting for so long.
The next thing I knew, Darien was repeating his vows to me. Tears were streaming down my face. I was so happy that this fantasy I'd been having for so long was finally becoming a reality.

"I, Darien, take you, Serena, to be my wife. In sickness and in health, for richer or for poorer... till death do us part." Those words will forever play through my mind like a broken record. He sounded so confident. At that moment, I knew we'd last forever and that nothing could ever tear us apart. This was it. Now it was my turn to recite my vows to Darien. I was so choked up from all the crying I was doing that I could barely speak. Suddenly, I saw a white light appear above our heads and i figure along with it.

"You can do this, my darling Serena. Pledge yourself to him here before all of your freinds and family. I am with you always."

I instantly reconized that voice, which was that of Queen Serenity. I looked up for an instant just as she was fading away. Her warm smile gave me the confidence that I needed. Thank you, Mother. I felt an intense heat as the cresent moon symbol faintly appeared on my forehead. I saw the reflection of it in Darien's deep blue eyes. I took a deep breath and spoke slowly.

"I...I, Serena, take you, D-Darien, to be my h-husband...till d-death do us p-part." The words at first seemed to be stuck in my throat, but I somehow managed to get through it gracefully without screwing up or klutzing out. I breathed a heavy sigh of relief realizing that I actually got through it.
Sammy then stepped forward holding the pillow with the rings resting on top of it. Darien reached down and took a ring and placed it ever so gently on the ring finger on my left hand.

"With this ring, I thee wed." His smile was so warm and comforting which made me feel all warm inside.
Sammy brought the pillow to my reach and I took the ring from it. Sammy then went and resumed his seat next to Dad and I could hear Mom sobbing in the background. My hand was shaking as I placed the ring on Darien's finger.

"With this ring, I thee wed." The smile on Darien's face pretty much said it all.

"By the power vested in me, I now pronounce you man and wife. You may kiss your bride."

The minister smiled and looked to Darien, who was slowly lifting my veil over my head. My heart was racing faster now. We were finally married and needed to seal it with a kiss.

"we're finally married," I manage to mutter. "I love you, Darien." I wrapped my arms gently around his neck.

"I know," replied Darien as he placed his arms around my waist. "we are one now and I love you, too."

Okay, this is it. The moment we'd both been waiting for was finally here! I was so nervous that my crying turned into giggling. We each leaned forward slightly as our lips engaged in a wedded kiss. It felt like time had stopped and I wondered if Setsuna had anything to do with that. I knew she didn't, or else she wouldn't be here since stopping time is breaking a taboo. Our lips parted ways and we turned to face our audience for the first time as husband and wife. Words can't even express how happy I am right now.
We slowly made our way back down the aisle hand in hand. From out of what seemed to be nowhere, Luna jumped out from one of the pews and landed on my shoulder as Artimis jumped from another pew on the other side and landed on Darien's shoulder.

"I am so proud of you, Serena," wept Luna as she licked the side of my face. "Although you were the one who wed, this seems like the happiest day of my life, too."

"Yeah," agreed Artimis. "Congradulations and all that stuff. I'm really happy for you both, too."

The cats jumped down and walked out of the church by our sides. There were people everywhere and flash bulbs going off all over the place.
All of our freinds came out right behind us and we were greeted wuth hugs from everyone. Melvin came over and took a group picture with his brand new digital camera. I can't wait to see how it turns out *giggle.*
There was a black limousine waiting for us. We turned one last time to wave to our guests before entering the limo. We were on our way to many years of wedded bliss.
Well, that's tha story of my wedding to Darien. I'm off now to my reception and some fun with my family and freinds. Perhaps I'll take the time to write about my reception in another chapter and the honeymoon, too *wink.* Well, maybe... see ya later!
